On a more serious note – apparently if the child is able to hold off eating the marshmallow, he or she did better in school and in life. The initial experiment was run by Walter Mischel in the 1960’s, following each of the 4 year olds involved for 18 years! Apparently it’s all about self-control! So there you go – good things come to those who wait!
